China Developed A New Material For Polybutylene Alloy Resin To Break The Monopoly Of Foreign Technology
Recently, China's scientific research and innovation team made a major breakthrough in the research of new technologies for polybutylene pot reactor alloys, and developed PB-A, a new material for polybutylene alloy resin for floor heating pipes, breaking the long-term technical monopoly and blockade in the field.
At present, most commonly used plastic pipes for floor heating in China are produced from raw materials such as PEX, heat-resistant polyethylene (PE-RT), PPR, and polybutene (PB), among which polybutene is a polymer inert polymer and is the world's One of the most cutting-edge chemical materials. According to Ren Xuebin, deputy general manager of Shantou Tokyo Bo Petrochemical Co., Ltd., “Foreign companies hold the core of the technology. China’s 60% or more market in this area is monopolized by foreign products, coupled with limited supply of products from China, And the high price has led to the failure of such excellent materials to be widely promoted and popularized in China.”
"The new material PB-A has excellent creep properties, high chemical stability, not only anti-aging, corrosion resistance, especially in the performance of high, low temperature and pressure capacity, has reached or exceeded the performance of PB materials Ren Xuebin told reporters that the material can produce thin-walled, large-diameter, light-weight, non-fouling, high-impact plastic tubes that are easy to handle and install.
“Traditional PB pipe sculpting is slow and takes 7-10 days. The new technology we developed enables the new material PB-A to take only 3-5 days and a 57% reduction in time, which greatly increases the cycle time for forming.” According to researchers from Beijing Bobo Chemical Research Institute, PB-A has a wide range of raw material applications. It can be used in PP modification to increase toughness and improve its impact strength. In traditional TPE applications, it can replace PVC to make sheets and tubes. No need to add plasticizers to obtain the required flexibility, thus avoiding the safety problems of vinyl chloride due to the addition of plasticized PVC and the health hazards caused by the addition of plasticizers. “Experiment shows that plastic pipes produced with this new material can be safely used for more than 50 years. Plastic pipe markets, including floor heating, will become PB-A material applications in future urbanization, shantytown reconstruction, rural water supply, and saline-alkali land reform. New growth point."
It is understood that at present domestic and foreign olefin resources are abundant, and its application area is limited to low-end products. The breakthrough of this technology makes it possible to extend olefin resources to high value-added products. "We will study the application of this material in the automotive field as well as in submarine or underground cables, optical cables, etc." According to researchers, PB-A thermoplastic elastomers have excellent electrical insulation properties, and are water-permeable, tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant. Performance is an ideal material for manufacturing submarine or underground cables and optical cable insulation coatings. “As a local large-scale petrochemical company, we have a wealth of high-quality olefin resources and will build a national industrial base of lightweight, high-strength alloys and new materials. We will vigorously promote the development of high-end, functional, and professional products.”
